Elyot’s practice centers on entertainment and media law, with an emphasis on kids, animation, and related licensing and distribution. He advises on wide range of legal issues including, rights acquisitions , development and financing, production, distribution , and exploitation of related intellectual property rights and all ancillary issues, including qualification for Canadian and other incentives.. After a number of years of acting as General Counsel to a leading Canadian animation studio and media company, Elyot brings a unique perspective to his client’s discrete issues.
Elyot has been a lawyer for over 15 years. Before joining MEP Business Counsel, Elyot held several positions with leading companies and law firms, including Bell Canada, Bull Housser, and DHX Media. These experiences have made Elyot uniquely able to advise creators and creative-driven businesses, in the film, television and media sectors.
He has been active over the last ten years as an advocate on behalf of the film and television production industry in British Columbia. Elyot is a past executive member of the BC Branch Council of the Canadian Media Producer’s Association, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Motion Picture Production Industry Association of BC, and DigiBC.
